Lindenmayer Systems in Architecture by Michael Hansmeyer
To say that I fully understand anything more technical than the concept would be an enormous lie, but the idea is fascinating. Architecture over the centuries has been dominated by forms that we as intelligent beings recognise as being strong, stable and efficient (for example, parts of Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia) and this project by “computational architect” Michael Hansmeyer explores the mathematics behind natural growth in the context of architectural design; what influences verticality, density … etc.
Click through for the whole project; some of the results are pretty extraordinary.
